Why pirate's plonk is fast becoming the spirit of choice

Rum is the fashionable drink of the moment. Sales in the UK rose rapidly in 2017 and they went over the £1 billion mark – that is the point where a drink is considered big by the drinks industry. Waitrose tipped rum to be the next big thing in its Christmas report. Measure for measure rum can be more expensive than other spirits because it’s more complicated to make. Kate Hollsworth went to a rum bar in Manchester.
